When using an MPPT solar charge controller, the following points must be observed to ensure efficient operation and safety of the device:
1. Adjustment of solar panel parameters
Ensure that the voltage and power of the solar panel are within the range supported by the controller. Too high an open circuit voltage (Voc) may damage the controller and too low a voltage may not trigger the charging function. When selecting a solar panel you must fully understand the input voltage range of the controller.
2. Set the system voltage correctly
Configure the output voltage of the controller according to the battery system (12V, 24V or 48V). Some intelligent controllers will detect this automatically, but it is best to check manually that the setting is correct. Incorrect voltage can reduce charging efficiency or damage the battery.
3. Ensure correct wiring
When installing, the battery should be connected first, then the solar panel and finally the load. When disconnecting, the order is reversed. This helps to avoid arcing or short circuits. Use appropriate cables and ensure that the connectors are tight to reduce resistance losses.
4. Pay attention to heat dissipation
The MPPT controller generates heat during operation and must be placed in a well-ventilated location. Avoid direct sunlight and high temperature environments to prevent overheating, which can reduce efficiency or cause damage.
5. Monitoring and Maintenance
Regularly check the status display or application of the controller to monitor input and output voltage, current and power. If an alarm or anomaly occurs, check that the circuit, load and solar panel are working properly.
