Using this damping effect of the magnetic field on  the metal plate, various electric dampers can be made,  such as the damping device in the magnetoelectric meter or the electromagnetic brake of the electric locomotive, which uses eddy current to achieve its damping effect.

      (2) Electromagnetic drive  This is another form of application that hinders relative motion due to electromagnetic damping. Induction asynchronous motors make use of this basic principle.
