An off-grid solar inverter is a critical component of solar energy systems, especially in remote areas or places without access to the grid. It operates in three main modes: charging the battery from the grid, supplying power to the load and, when the grid is disconnected, supplying power from the battery to the load.

In normal operation, when connected to the grid, the inverter converts AC power to DC power, charging the battery and simultaneously supplying power to the load. The battery acts as a back-up energy storage device, ensuring that power is available when the grid fails. The inverter constantly monitors the battery voltage and the load's power requirements, preventing the battery from being overcharged or overdischarged.

When the grid is disconnected, the inverter goes into off-grid mode and starts drawing power from the battery to supply the load. As the battery discharges, the inverter continues to monitor the voltage level. If the battery voltage drops below a pre-set threshold (usually around 10.5V), the inverter automatically shuts down to protect the battery from deep discharge, which could shorten its life.

This feature ensures the stability and longevity of the battery while optimising energy use. By automatically switching between grid and off-grid modes, the inverter ensures a consistent and reliable power supply for users, especially in off-grid or energy-saving situations. With intelligent control strategies, off-grid solar inverters provide seamless transitions and ensure that energy needs are met safely and efficiently.
