Positive and negative judgment

Under normal circumstances, if an electrode in the primary battery is continuously dissolved or the quality is continuously reduced, the electrode undergoes an oxidation reaction, which is the negative electrode (anode) of the primary battery; if there is gas generation on an electrode in the primary battery, the quality of the electrode With increasing or constant electrode quality, the electrode undergoes a reduction reaction, which is the positive electrode (cathode) of the primary battery. The positive electrode undergoes a reduction reaction to gain electrons; the negative electrode undergoes an oxidation reaction and loses electrons.

Electrons flow from negative to positive, and current flows from positive to negative. In solution, cations move to the positive electrode and anions move to the negative electrode.

Electrode judgment

Negative electrode: one pole from which electrons flow out (definition of negative pole); one pole with increased valence; one pole where oxidation reaction occurs; one pole of metal with relatively strong activity (sometimes the influence of electrolyte solution on the two poles should also be considered). Anode: The electrode where the oxidation reaction occurs (anode definition)

Cathode: The electrode where the reduction reaction occurs (the cathode definition)

In the primary battery, the external circuit is electronically conductive, and the electrolyte solution is ionically conductive.
