  In solar energy systems, charge controllers (also called solar regulators) may include added features like LDV, or low voltage disconnect, a circuit that cuts the power to the load when the batteries have become discharged in order to protect the batteries from becoming damaged or perhaps ruined altogether.  Other charge controllers display data, transmit data to remote displays, and track the flow of electricity over time.  Some charge controllers may include a feature that monitors battery temperature to prevent batteries from overheating.

  What is the role of MPPT?

    Due to the influence of external factors such as light intensity and the environment, the output power of the solar cell varies, and the light intensity emits more electricity. The inverter with MPPT power tracking is to make full use of the solar cell and make it run in the power point. That is to say, under the condition of constant solar radiation, the output power after MPPT will be higher than that before MPPT, which is the role of MPPT.

Principle of Power Point Tracking

    With the development of electronic technology, the MPPT control of the current solar cell array is generally completed through a DC/DC conversion circuit. Its principle block diagram is shown in the following figure.

     The photovoltaic cell array is connected to the load through a DC/DC circuit, and the power tracking device continuously detects the current and voltage changes of the photovoltaic array, and adjusts the duty cycle of the PWM drive signal of the DC/DC converter according to the change.
