Terminal connection

     In low-resistance resistors, the influence of terminal resistance and temperature coefficient cannot be ignored. These factors should be fully considered in practical planning. Additional sampling terminals can be used to directly measure the voltage across the metal material.

     The copper-manganese-nickel-copper resistor welded by electron beam actually has such a low terminal resistance value, and can be used as a two-terminal sub-resistor and close to the function of four-terminal connection after reasonable wiring. However, it is necessary to pay attention to the signal of the sampling voltage when planning. The connection line cannot be directly connected to the current channel of the sampling resistor. If possible, it is better to connect to the current terminal from the underside of the sampling resistor and form a microstrip line.

     Four-lead designs are recommended for high current and low resistance applications. The common practice is to use manganese-nickel-copper alloy strips to punch directly into resistors, but this is not the best method. Although four-lead resistors are beneficial for improving temperature characteristics and thermal voltage, But the total resistance is sometimes 2 to 3 times higher than the actual resistance, which can lead to unacceptable power loss and temperature rise. In addition, the resistance material is difficult to connect to the copper by screwing or welding, which also increases the contact resistance and creates a larger loss.
