The working process of the circuit:
a> After the switch S is turned on, the voltage across the transformer winding N1 is up positive and down negative, and the voltage across the N2 winding coupled to it is also up positive and down negative. Therefore, VD1 is in the on state, VD2 is in the off state, and the current of the inductor L increases gradually;
b> After S is turned off, the inductor L freewheels through VD2, and VD1 is turned off. After S is turned off, the excitation current of the transformer flows back to the power supply through the N3 winding and VD3, so S is subjected to voltage after it is turned off.
c> The magnetic core of the transformer is reset: After the switch S is turned on, the excitation current of the transformer starts from zero, and increases linearly with the increase of time until S is turned off. In order to prevent the saturation of the magnetizing inductance of the transformer, it is necessary to try to make the magnetizing current drop back to zero within a period of time after S is turned off to the next time it is turned on again. This process is called the core reset of the transformer.
