Classification of voltmeters

1. DC type

Mainly use the measurement mechanism of magnetoelectricity meter and electrostatic meter. The magnetoelectric voltmeter is composed of a small-range magnetoelectric ammeter and a series resistor (also known as a voltage divider), with a minimum range of more than ten millivolts. In order to expand the range of the voltmeter, the resistance value of the voltage divider can be increased. For example, when a 50 microampere ammeter is used to form a 250 volt voltmeter, the total resistance value of the voltage divider and the measuring mechanism should be 250/[50×10^(-6)]=5×10^6 ohm=5 trillion ohms, which is equivalent to a voltmeter with an internal resistance of 20 kohms/volt. In order to avoid too many connections of the voltmeter affecting the original working state, the voltmeter is required to have a higher internal resistance. A voltage divider composed of several resistors is connected in series with the measuring mechanism to form a multi-range voltmeter. The minimum range of the electrostatic voltmeter is several tens of volts, and the expansion of the range is achieved by changing the internal structure of the meter and the distance between the poles. In addition, the measuring mechanism of the electromagnetic meter can also be used to measure DC voltage in theory.
