Intelligent Power Module (IPM) is the abbreviation of Intelligent Power Module, which is an advanced power switching device with the advantages of GTR (high power transistor) high current density, low saturation voltage and high voltage resistance, and MOSFET (field effect transistor) high Advantages of input impedance, high switching frequency and low drive power. Moreover, IPM integrates logic, control, detection and protection circuits, which is easy to use, not only reduces the size and development time of the system, but also greatly enhances the reliability of the system, adapting to the development direction of today's power devices - modularization , composite and power integrated circuits (PIC), have been more and more widely used in the field of power electronics.

The IPM consists of high-speed, low-power IGBT chips and preferred gate-level drive and protection circuits, as shown in Figure 1. Among them, IGBT is a composite of GTR and MOSFET, and GTR is driven by MOSFET, so IGBT has the advantages of both.

IPMs can be divided into four categories according to the internal power circuit configuration: H-type (one IGBT is internally packaged), D-type (two IGBTs are internally packaged), C-type (six IGBTs are internally packaged) and R-type (seven internal packages are packaged) IGBT). The low-power IPM uses a multi-layer epoxy insulation system, and the medium and high-power IPM uses ceramic insulation.
